How a Jaguar Smart Key Works
Jaguar smart key lets you to lock and unlock the vehicle from afar. Like all electronic devices, it's powered by batteries.
If your Smart Key battery is beginning to die, your car could indicate this through a decrease in the range of its signals. The center for messages may show an alert "SMART-KEY BATTERY FAILS".
Keyless Entry
This feature lets you access your Jaguar without having to dig through your purse or pockets. The system uses proximity sensor to detect the Jaguar Smart Key, which will automatically open your XE. Pull any door handle and the vehicle will unlock and arm itself as you approach. When you exit your vehicle, you can lock it using the door handle or by pressing the key fob.
Additionally, you can use the Powered Gesture trunk lid feature in your Jaguar XE. It is possible to open the trunk using a gesture. Hold the Activity Key against your trunk when you're ready close it. The warning lights will flash to indicate that it's been successfully connected.
The battery of the Jaguar Smart Key does not need to be replaced like other smart keys. You might notice that the range of your smart key is decreasing and it will not respond instantly to commands. Replace the battery as soon you notice this.
Panic Alarm
With your Jaguar Smart Key, you can quickly shut off your car alarm if it is playing at maximum volume. This feature, also known as the panic button may appear straightforward, but it can be very useful in certain scenarios.
Press the Smart Key button with a headlamp symbol three times in three seconds to activate panic mode. The system will turn on the headlamps on the vehicle for a period of 25 seconds. It will also activate the alarm five times to discourage a possible offender. By pressing the button again, the panic alarm is switched off.
You can also use the Jaguar Activity Key to lock and unlock your car without the traditional Smart Key fob inside. Simply slip the Activity Key onto your wrist, shut the doors, turn off your engine, and then hold the Activity Key against the Jaguar emblem on your tailgate. Your vehicle will then be locked and your hazard lights will flash to indicate that the vehicle is secured.
If your Smart Key fob battery is getting low, you should hear a warning sound and see the message "SMART Key Battery Low" in the center of your vehicle's display. If you need to replace the battery, take off the chrome cover on the key fob, then slide out the CR2032 battery and replace it with a fresh one that is facing towards the upwards.
Enhanced The Key Lab offers the option of keyless entry on a number of its models that will eliminate the need to fumble with your keys prior to heading out for your Irvine commute. A notification will be immediately sent to your smartphone if the vehicle has been tampered with. This allows you to immediately notify the police. This feature can protect your Jaguar from theft, and it's accessible on a majority of E-PACEs I-PACE, F-PACE, and E-PACE vehicles.
Convenience
Jaguar smart keys can secure your car without needing to touch the knob. This lets you leave your key in your pocket or bag. It also allows remote start of your car so that you can drive away to your Rumson or Colts Neck commute already warmed or cooled.
This feature is especially helpful for outdoor enthusiasts who don't wish to risk leaving the keys of their car in it when hiking or biking. You can also use your smart key to control your car's temperature control and seat settings, which allow you to personalize your cabin before you even step inside your Jaguar.
Although Jaguar's smart keys are more secure than traditional key fobs, you should still be careful when using them in public places, such as restaurants or gas stations. Because they transmit a low-frequency signal, other people could detect the signal and open or start your car from a distance.
Fortunately, this is easy to avoid by using the remote start system only when you're sure that you're in a secure location and that no one else can see your smart key. You can also trigger the alarm from a distance, which will sound loudly enough to scare away potential thieves. You can also add an Activity Key to your smartkey to make it unnecessary to use a keyfob when you are on the trail or mountain biking.
